How Far Would You Go?
Let me ask you a question…How far would you go to make someone else’s dream a reality? What if you knew someone else wanted something SO badly and they were unable to make that dream come true?
Infertility is something women don’t think about until it’s their turn to start a family. As a woman, so many of us assume we can have children. In fact, we hear about preventing pregnancy from a very young age.
Keep reading to hear about one of my clients and her story and how she felt that she was being called to help a couple who was desperately trying to start their own family. I have the most amazing clients and I feel deeply blessed that they share their journey with me.
“The photos of me in this session are when I was 3 days shy of 6 months postpartum, but I did not have “my” baby, I delivered another couple’s baby that they adopted. Stay with me!
In 2019, I had a huge calling from God to help someone, anyone, any way that I could. I love being pregnant, had a great experience during my pregnancy and delivery of my own twin girls (now 7), and so I thought, “why not help someone out that cannot have their own when I already know I can handle a pregnancy?”
This led me to find a couple that has been through the ringer. With multiple failed pregnancies, miscarriages, and failed adoptions, they sought out Nightlight Christian Embryo Agency to adopt embryos. The mom that I delivered for was exhausted of her own and was too risky to carry. The couple had never given up, so I knew I could not give up on them.
By 2021, we had a failed embryo transfer. I felt like a failure, but couldn’t give up and we gave it another try. We transferred in November 2021 and I delivered a healthy baby girl for this couple in July 2022! It was the most amazing experience with my sister acting as my Doula, the parents in the room, and delivering quickly – 4 hours labor.
As I delivered the beautiful baby girl, I held out my hands to the new parents and tears began running through their eyes as they thanked me.
After the experience, I needed something to accept my new body and I began researching the idea of a boudoir shoot. Being that I had two pregnancies and we all know as women the weight that we carry physically and emotionally from pregnancies, I figured a boudoir shoot was a great way to embrace the body that I was blessed with in order to create life. Embrace your body, whether you have children or not, because we can do amazing things with ourselves! – Shannon
